You’re on a flight from Amsterdam to Detroit, and you’re a Saudi National. Weeks prior, on Christmas, a man on the same exact flight tried to ignite material that he’d smuggled onto the plane, bypassing airport security by stuffing it in his underwear. The Crotch Bomber. According to Fox News in Minneapolis the men were unruly and not listening to instruction;
Delta Air Lines spokeswoman Susan Elliott said four passengers on Northwest Airlines Flight 243 were not complying with crew members. Authorities in Michigan said the men made inappropriate jokes about terror in Arabic, which caught the attention of an air marshal onboard who also spoke Arabic.
The air marshals asked that authorities meet the plane, and the aircraft was held on the tarmac.The men were removed and the rest of passengers were then taken to the terminal. The TSA advised that the four men were interviewed by Customs and the US Border Patrol and released.
You’d think that the denizens of the Middle East might be a tad reluctant to travel in the United States, let alone joke about terrorism while on the exact flight on which the actual terrorist flew 3-weeks prior. It’s also hard to blame the Saudi passengers; situations reversed, you can be sure that some stupid American would most certainly do the same.
Which brings me to the TSA. And the next post.
